Carli Milstein Art
I make layered abstract paintings that balance structure and surprise. Working with acrylic, charcoal, spray paint, clay and oil sticks, I build textured surfaces through repeated passes — masking, scraping, adding and erasing — then introduce moments of chance with drips, splatters and gestural marks. Some works live in quiet neutral palettes that emphasize subtle shifts in tone and surface; others use vibrant color to push contrast and energy. I’m interested in the push-pull between precise geometry and soft, flowing movement: clean lines and shapes sit alongside loose marks so the eye finds new relationships at different distances. The finished pieces are meant to change with the viewer — intimate up close, architectural from across the room — inviting both calm and a little surprise.
